Kevin Townend
is an orchestrator/arranger and also a composer of library and media music.
Early Career
I began my career in one of the BBC Radio Music Libraries in 1973 and left to go freelance in 1980.
Whilst developing my arranging skills, I worked initially as a copyist and freelance librarian until 1984, when I was able to devote myself entirely to arranging and orchestrating.
Through the auspices of my good friend the arranger and conductor Neil Richardson, I was lucky enough to have my earliest arrangements recorded and broadcast by one of BBC Radio's staff orchestras.
I've been most fortunate over the years to have had my arrangements played by some of London's top orchestras, including the City of London Sinfonia, the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
I have also worked with many great singers and musicians including Kiri Te Kanawa, Freddie Mercury, Stevie Wonder, George Harrison, Cliff Richard, Joe Cocker, Dionne Warwick, producer Trevor Horn and most recently the Guillemots and Muse.

Film Orchestration
I've had the great privilege of orchestrating the music of some leading contemporary film composers, including:
Ryuichi Sakamoto ('Wuthering Heights', 'Little Buddha', 'Snake Eyes', 'Femme Fatale'), Gabriel Yared ('Cold Mountain'), Joel Goldsmith ('Kull the Conqueror'), Graeme Revell ('Lara Croft: Tomb Raider', 'Goal!'), John Powell ('Rat Race') and Dario Marianelli ('Pandaemonium', 'In This World', 'Cheeky').
Library and Media Music
Have written and co-written production library music since 1989. My music is published by JW Media Music, FirstCom Music Library and Post Production Music.
